Sometimes, when I’m sitting on the subway, I find myself mentally redesigning the ads around me. I’ll tweak the typeface, remove an awkward shape, or imagine how a bit of negative space might transform the design. By the time I cross the Charles River, my focus shifts outside the window, where I see imaginary shapes weaving through the cityscape.
I wanted to bring those shapes into my home, so I began sketching. As I moved the shapes around on paper, they started to connect, forming compositions that felt both dynamic and harmonious. Inspired, I turned to Styrofoam, cutting and painting each piece to mirror the forms in my drawings. Hours later, the artwork was complete. It felt satisfying to see those imagined shapes take on a physical presence, bringing a piece of my inner world into reality.
